Great Works

A Voyage In TimeThis was a short story that I wrote for Creative Writing in the 2015-2016 school year. I wanted to write a Twilight Zone kind of story, and have it take place in a city that I'm familiar with. What better than the SS Milwaukee Clipper in Muskegon, Michigan. The Clipper is one of two remaining passenger steamships left on the Great Lakes, and has a lot of historical signifigance. The story also takes place in 2003, because I wanted to give the story an early-2000s feel. The story has a twist ending, which is another nod to the Twilight Zone. I plan to futher develop this story in the future.

NarrativeI wrote this narrative for A.P. Lit. This story is about a true experience I had with a Stouffer's frozen meal. I wanted to write about that experience because I thought it would be unique and "out of the box." I played a lot with dialogue throughout this piece.

Apostrophe PoemFor my poem I decided to write about a lake. I didn’t want to write about any lake in particular, so I combined aspects of multiple lakes that I have visited during my life. History is a big motif in my poem, because lakes in the state of Michigan had resorts. Writing this poem was a challenge as I am not that great at writing poetry.

Foster TheoriesI wrote this essay for A.P. Lit. This essay was about Foster's numerous theories and how they apply to the short story A Good Man is Hard To Find. It was a very challenging piece to write as I had to connect ideas for Foster's book to the short story.

Artistic Character Representation Project
This is a reflection on a movie trailer I made for "A Hunger Artist." I consider this to be one of the best reflections I've written during A.P. Lit. I really like how I incorporated in-text citations and used details to explain why I made the movie trailer the way I did. The trailer is included below.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
This is a movie review on 1975's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I really enjoyed writing this review as it made think about how movie reviews are written. It also made me push my creativity "comfort-zone."
